My Week(s) in Instagrams: 12/13/14

Hi friends! It’s been a while since my last Instagram post – December is such a crazy busy month! I wanted to stop by and give you all a sample of what I’ve been up to. This isn’t every photo from the past two weeks (NYC is so photogenic!) so be sure to follow me here to see everything!

I bought an ASU ornament to start to even the score a bit – my roommate is an Arizona grad (it’s her only flaw) and there are wayyyyy too many Arizona A’s on this tree!

IMG_3052

The upside to walking to Trader Joe’s in snow/rain/sleet is that the streets of Downtown Brooklyn are looking incredibly festive these days!

IMG_3057

Think Coffee has become my default break spot during workdays, now that it’s too cold to hang out on a park bench with a book. I love to settle in with a latte, a muffin and either a book or the latest episode of Serial!

IMG_3065

My dear friend Misha was in town last weekend and dragged me to a University of Arizona alumni event in midtown to watch the PAC-12 championships. I wore a blue shirt to avoid the ire of strangers – but you all know I was still supporting the ASU Sun Devils (who were not playing, for the record.)

After eight months of living in NYC, I finally made it to a museum! Becca, Misha and I headed to the Met on a rainy Saturday.

IMG_3075

Sometimes you just need ice cream for dinner, am I right?

New York is just as magical and festive as everyone says it is this time of year – I’ve spent many hours just wandering the streets taking pictures. Stay tuned this week to see more!

My Week in Instagrams: 11/30/14

Can y’all believe it’s already advent?! My very favorite season kicks off TODAY! I’m so excited for a month of celebrating the birth of Jesus. It’s already off to an awesome start, with this week full of holiday celebrations.

IMG_2988

I’m usually the type to wait until after Thanksgiving to put up the tree, but my roommate and I both had last Monday off from work so we made a day of it: Saw Mockingjay Part 1, stocked up on Thanksgiving foods from Trader Joe’s, watched every Thanksgiving episode of Friends and put up our tree! What a wonderful day it was.

IMG_2995

Of course when we put up our tree I realized that I didn’t bring any of my ornaments with me in the move – and all of Becca’s are from her alma mater, which is my alma mater’s rival! So on Tuesday I started replenishing my Christmas stash with this ornament featuring the best letter in the alphabet.

IMG_3008

In many ways, Thanksgiving this year was just another Thursday for me, with fewer people in the office and more phone calls placed to family. But I was shocked when getting off the train in Manhattan to find New York City looking particularly charming – especially considering we’d just suffered the first slushy snowfall of the season. It made for a cold but beautiful walk to work.

IMG_3027

Friday was my college’s annual game against our aforementioned rival. It’s considered football’s most intense rivalry, so obviously I had to post some support for my Sun Devils! Tragically, we lost the game. I don’t want to talk about it – but I am forever proud of ASU!

Finally, last night my sweet friend Chelsea – the very first person I met at Liberty Church back in the spring – hosted an impromptu Christmas party. Santa hats were involved and many photos were taken. Such joy I take from my friendships here in NYC!

Happy holidays, friends!

My week in Instagrams: 11/16/14

Hello, friends! What a week this has been. It was about 100% more relaxing than last week, yet eventful enough for a ridiculous amount of Instagramming. It was a mix of nights in and birthday celebrations for friends and trying to adjust to the very chilly fall weather! No snow yet, though – let’s keep it that way as long as we can, yes? Here’s a glimpse at my life this week:

IMG_2924

Fall colors continue to be stunning and, at least for now, it’s still warm enough in the afternoons that I can wander through parks on my lunch breaks.

IMG_2927

My sister continues to be the best and sends random cards in the mail every couple weeks. This one put a huge smile on my face – I love Christmas enough that I’m already listening to Christmas music 24/7.

One day this week I got out of the house earlier than normal and decided  to go for a walk on the way to the office. I stumbled across this gem in Washington Square Park and it put a huge smile on my face. I’ve only been here 8 months but I’d say this is accurate!

The incredible mail week continued with this tote bag from my friend Kathleen – isn’t it adorable?! And such a lovely reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things.

Yesterday was sunny enough that I wondered at one point if I should have worn sunscreen – yet the temperatures were hovering in the 40’s, even midday. Back in Phoenix, that’s about as cold as it ever gets, so I’m pretty anxious about the soon-to-plummet temperatures here in NYC! Check back later this week to find out how I’ve been preparing for winter.

My week in Instagrams: 11/9/14

Hello friends! What a week it’s been. Between friend dates and church events, I’ve barely had a spare moment to post to Instagram, let alone this blog. Whoops! As fun as it’s been, I’m looking forward to a shortened work week and some nights in coming up. Meanwhile, here’s a tiny glimpse at the insanity, post-election:

IMG_2907

On Wednesday, I had approximately two hours free in between work and community group. Convenient, since I hadn’t finished the reading for group! I headed to a Starbucks in midtown for my seasonal favorite – the delicious but expensive peppermint mocha – and some reading time.

IMG_2914

Friday was the last Liberty Sisterhood gathering of 2014. Our fearless leader Andi Andrew stood onstage alongside some truly amazing women – including my dear friend Trish, pictured above – to talk about sisterhood and cast vision over our future. It has been such a joy getting to know the amazing women of Liberty and there are such great things to come in 2015!

Yesterday capped off the week with a night I had been looking forward to for many weeks! My roommate Becca and I bought tickets to Nick Offerman’s standup set at the New York Comedy Festival. Before the show, we headed to a diner in Hell’s Kitchen for breakfast (and beer) for dinner. We try to make Ron Swanson proud whenever we can.

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful and restful weekend!

My week in Instagrams: 10/26/14

Looking at my Instagram profile over the past week, one might think I am the sort of person who enjoys the “great” outdoors. I assure you I am not that sort of person. I do, however, appreciate how beautiful nature is this time of year, particularly here in the Northeast – orange is my favorite color and for now it is all around!

IMG_2842

Early in the week I spent some quality time with my friend Breanna, whose birthday was yesterday! Bre lives in Park Slope, a neighborhood I had yet to visit, and I might have been late to lunch because I kept stopping to take pictures of the trees.

IMG_2848

Wednesday was one of those days where I had a small amount of time to kill before work, so I decided to  take the train a little further and backtrack through the park. Naturally I got caught in the rain, but somehow this city is still beautiful even when it’s wet.

IMG_2851

On Friday I realized I hadn’t been to the High Line in a while, so I headed there to check out the foliage. Gorgeous, of course.

IMG_2854This week has wrapped up with a visit from my friend Jenny, who I recently visited in Toronto! Yesterday Jenny, Taylor and I headed to the East Village for bottomless brunch at Poco. It was one of those brunches where you completely lose track of what time it is because you’re just having too  much fun. It’s been such a treat to have a bit of a vacation without leaving the city!
